I recently purchased a Canon AE-1 Program, a 35mm film camera that dates back to the early 1980's. I was introduced to photography in the digital era so it was only through urban legend, folklore and the occasional movie scene that I heard about the beauties of film. Loading my first roll was anything but romantic: YouTube tutorial on the computer screen, fumbling hands, and with childlike excitement I accidentally rewound my first roll... Anyway, new roll acquired, correctly loaded and *click* ... I fell in love.
Not being able to erase an image combined with the total uncertainty of what that image looks like is a feeling that I have never felt. 1 camera. 36 exposures. Infinite possibilities. Camera: Canon AE-1 Program | Lens: Canon FD 50mm 1.8 | Film: Kodak Ultramax 400 [circa late July 2015]
